NPR, please, for the love of god, bring back your regular programming.
I know I've complained about this before, but pledge drive week has a surprisingly hefty impact on my life. I can't listen to the NPR shills after the news at the top or bottom of the hour, so I surf around the dial until I find something that doesn't make my ears bleed.
I took a break from futzing around with the stations when I had to merge or do some other driving-related task this morning. A few minutes later I realized that I had wiped out on a station playing Howie Day's Collide.
And that I was humming along.
I think it was an acoustic version. It's still stuck in my head. I'm gonna need an intervention or something.

OH MY GOD thank you for saying this. We have TWP NPR stations and BOTH of them have been pledge driving for OVER A WEEK. It is maddening!! I hate to complain, because I haven't given them any money yet, but JEEZ, people, throw me a bone here--I am stuck on sports radio or finding out what The Other Side is up to on conservative talk radio.
The sports radio *does* make me sound smart at the water cooler, though--I never thought I'd actually say anything like "Yeah, but think who else is in the Bears' division-Minnesota? Green Bay?" Then I thought "how the f&^% do I know this??"
I heard Justin's sexy back on All Things Considered this week! What is the world coming to?!

Think that's bad. Rick Springfield's "Jessie's Girl" is bouncing around my head all day, thanks to a freaking oldies station I walked past. Gawd, I want to pound a nail in my head.

Last night I freaked out my husband by shrieking "shut up you whining beggars!' as I shut the radio off in protest.
A week of stupid tote bag offers and endless unfulfilled promises to "get back to our regular progamming shortly" drove to the brink.
We listened to "Opie and Anthony" this morning on the drive in. Bad Mother. Very Bad Mother.
Is it good or bad that I have no idea who Howie Day is?
Signs it is pledge week for me include an in depth knowledge of the quarterback controversy surrounding Brunell, play calling inside the 35, and what "Coach" had for breakfast.
At a certain point, the redskin potatoes make me switch back to the pledge drive. (Memo to sportstalk 980 programmers: consider talking about the baseball playoffs.)
