Yo Gabba Gabba

I give you DJ Lance Rock Lumpyhead. The costume parade at preschool went pretty much as I expected. Either people had no idea who the hell Lumpyhead was supposed to be, or they "got" his costume right away.

We go trick-or-treating tonight in Aunt Bob's neighborhood, where even fewer people will recognize Lumpyhead's costume. But as long as they give him candy, who cares.

Lula remains unimpressed by all this Halloween nonsense.

Awesome costumes! My kids will be frogs this evening.

DJ Lance was the hit of the parade. I heard more than one kid say "Yo Gabba Gabba."

That's hilarious. I've never actually seen Yo Gabba Gabba but have seen some pictures. Brilliant.

I am going to my (belated) office Halloween potluck lunch tomorrow as Amy Winehouse. Found a $5 black witch's wig at CVS the other day that I teased up into a beehive. Add black eyeliner, drawn-on tats and a cocktail glass...VOILA! I just hope some people get it. Maybe Lumpyhead and I should go trick or treating together.

That is a totally awesome costume! Anyone who doesn't know who he is supposed to be is clearly WAY out of the toddler loop!

Impressively cool.

That's a seriously michelin-mannish costume Lula's wearing. Lumpyhead looks so cool - did he get good candy?

Anonymous said...

Hands down, the best costume ever!

You really must link to a photo of DJ Lance. The costume is impressive without the comparison - but with the comparison it's pure magic.

BEST.COSTUME.EVER.

It makes me want to have another child just so I can borrow it in two years.

OK, I loved the costume before I clicked the link (I'd never seen the real DJ Lance), but that made it even funnier.

Your kids are way too cute!

WOW you did a great job - that is hilarious! I love that you somehow got him to carry his "turntables," too. LOL!

My kids wore kitty ear headbands... like last year... boooooring. Tee hee But there were no school parties or anything - I figure I'm going to be lazy about costumes until they care and ask me for more of an effort.

LOL I join the "no clue" crowd, maybe because I don't have cable, or maybe because I wouldn't want any worse kiddy garbage in my head than is already there from 18 years of parenting. (I DO have toddlers, AND 18yo)
However, that is one awesome looking costume anyway!

You've inspired me to make a YGG costume for my daughter next year. Phenomenal job! YGG is the best kiddie show since Sesame Street- and so much cooler!

Would really love to know where you found the track suit or did you make it?

cindie said...

Care to sell the suit? My daughter would LOOOOOVE that! Your kids are most adorable!

We love what you did with the costume. We have a 9 month old son who will be turning a year a week before Halloween and absolutely loves Yo Gabba Gabba! My wife really wants him to be Broby. We are so impressed with what you did with DJ Lance and have searched everywhere and cant find Yo Gabba Gabba! costumes anywhere. Would you be interested in doing a Broby costume? Of course we would pay you.. My wifes email address is lilshevlin@hotmail.com. We would love to hear from you! Thank you

melissajreeves@yahoo.com

please email me if you can make this costume-will pay for materials and time!

Where can you get this costume? My teenage grandson wants to have it for halloween (he is the size of DJ Lance!).

Lumpyheadsmom said...

Okay, people are still finding their way here, so let me answer the two most frequently asked questions:
1) Yes, I made this costume.
2) No, I cannot make one for you.

I'm not mean, I'm just an idiot. It took me two weeks to sew this "easy" pattern that would have taken a good seamstress about 45 seconds. See the link for more information.

Anonymous said...

I was wondering if you had a pattern you went by?? If so, do you think you could pass it along?? :) Thanks.

NewellGourdin said...

What was the answer to the question of "Do you care to sell the costume?" I say you have a little side business if you want it. They are still not making Yo Gabba Gabba costumes which seems like such a business mistake on their part!

Again, fanastic costume! My son's a huge Yo Gabba Gabba fan. You've inspired me to try a DJ Lance Rock costume, although mine may not turn out as good.

FYI, for any non-sewers who want a low-tech Brobee, I happened across this bodysuit on Amazon.com:

http://www.amazon.com/The-Childrens-Place-striped-stretchie/dp/B001CJ7XJE/ref=pd_bbs_3?ie=UTF8&s=apparel&qid=1221769777&sr=8-3

and they have printable masks at nickjr.com:
