Smelly baby, smelly baby
What are they feeding you?
Smelly baby, smelly baby
It’s not your fault.
We sang this to Lula in her early months because she farted a lot.
We have since changed the second line to “Why aren’t they bathing you?”
Yeah, so my kids don’t get baths every day. Sue me.
The sad thing is, Lumpyhead would take four baths a day if we let him. He loves playing in the water and splashing around, but woe to anyone who might suggest bathtime has come to an end. If he’s having a rough day, the tub reliably shuts him up, but you have to weigh the screechy complainy tyrant that will show up at the end of the bath against the blissful sweet boy you’ll have for those few fleeting minutes.
Lula’s bath schedule is even more sporadic, and combined with her chubbiness, she often smells funny. Luckily for her, I’ve already named her on the blog, or I’d be introducing you to Lumpyhead’s sister: Stinkyneck.
Still, they both bathe far more often than I did on maternity leave.

Hi Lula! You are adorable with or without the stinky neck!
Ugh. I just realized this post probably didn't make any sense at all.
Some context:

Song
Eh, maybe none of my posts ever make any sense.
Oh, I got it - we used to sing a variation of Stinky Cat to my daughter when she was little(er). Lula is adorable!

Eh, we bathe our kids every once in a while, too. And let them run in the sprinklers in between times.
Too cute. Can't wait to see Stinkyneck in a few weeks!
regular bath = diaper rash. I vote for stinky neck.
Yeah, what IS it about their little necks that attracts crud? (Okay, I know the physics, I'm jsut commiserating).
I didn't think it was possible for babies to smell bad (poos and farts notwithstanding).
Okay, a) I got both the jokes right away, and b) I thought you weren't *supposed* to bathe babies every day because it dries out their skin ...
Just think about it this way: you're helping her build up her immune system, so maybe she won't be The Allergy Kid.

Don't worry. We all know "Smelly Cat".
I'm glad we can't smell her through the internet.
She is a doll baby absolutly darling! Bath or no bath, she is so sweet.
My kids get bathed on the days they dont swim. Which is, uh, about every 2 days or so. Isnt that what baby wipes are for?
Lula is too much. Those cheeks, that chin. Adorable.
I love your brain. That is exactly the kind of song we were singing to Ada, along with refashioned Parliament (we want to fart, gotta have that fart!), etc.
