A Short Survey

Do you:

1. Unpack the minute you get home, or
2. Let the pile of clothes and random shit sit there until you use each item again and it cycles back into its regular place?

I'm a 2, even when I'm not barfing. Bump is a 1. Is this just a personality difference, or is it because I am a shitty housekeeper?

Personality difference. It must be, because we have the personality difference in our household.

I am a total #1. Before we leave wherever we are, I pack all of the clean stuff in my suitcase and all of the dirty stuff in the kids suitcase. Tom brings the dirty clothes suitcase right into the laundry room and I start the laundry before we even have the car unloaded. I am a freak.

My husband, who packs his own stuff, leaves it packed on the floor for months, slowly taking stuff out as he needs it. It literally gathers dust between trips. I refuse to dust it.

2.

I've got the suitcases half full downstairs to prove it.

I'm a 1 1/2. I pack dirty and clean separately and unpack the dirty clothes post haste. The clean ones sit in a suitcase in our bedroom on the floor until they are needed or missed. Or the suitcase is needed again.

#1, all the way. I can't even go to bed and get a good night's sleep when I get home until everything's unpacked and in its place.

It's been a while since I have gone anywhere. I can't remember.

Having just come back from a trip, this is fresh in my mind. For me it depends on the time of day we get home. If it's late, the unpacking can wait.

Consider myself de-lurked...

I pack all of the dirty clothes in a trash bag so Ritch can wash them when we get home. Then I get mad when I can't find something for a month - until I realize it's still sitting in the suitcase (on the floor, under the pile of clean laundry Ritch has washed).

Also, I am a horrible housekeeper.

Yesterday I unpacked my suitcase. I got home from my trip on December 6th.

I think you've got your answer, babe.

I'm a slow #1.
I don't unpack immediately, but I will do it w/in a day or two.

Funny though, when I move, I would rather live out of the boxes than unpack. I HATE unpacking boxes!

I'm a 2 too. You should take advantage of the fact that your hubby is complementary (as opposed to complimentary), and not have to unpack.

I dump the whole suitcase in the laundry room. Even the clean stuff. I know, could I be any more lazy?

#2 and rotten housekeeper. (total opposite of Anne)

I am good about unpacking & putting away the diabetes supplies and, usually, the toiletries kit, but the suitcase and the rest of the contents often sit until I need to pack for the next trip or I run out of socks.

I'm a shitty housekeeper, but am a number 1. Go figure.

Depends on the time. But it defintely happens within 24 hours.

We pack dirty / clean. Pete's such a 1 that usually within 30 minutes of being home, there is laundry going. I'm a 2.

I'm a #2..the way I unpack is that I take stuff out as I need it..
And there is nothing wrong with that! Is there?

I say personality difference. I am a 1, my husband a 2.
